I See the Sunlight

I'm not really feeling sick anymore! Not only that, but I finished three maor projects over the past week and have nothing due in any of my classes till next week :) I love not having much to do this upcoming week in regards to work and school. I need a breather.

The baby has started moving around lots now! Especially in the morning when I wake up. I went for my monthly doctors appointment on Friday and everything looks good :) Although, I have to go to the lab to get tested for gestational diabetes, which I heard is a yucky test. You can't eat or drink anything 10 hours before the exam and then they make you drink a McDonald's orange pop (highly concentrated with sugar!) to see how your body reacts to the sugar. The testing takes at least one hour :P I can't wait to get that over and done with!

The prenantal classes are booked and we'll be taking them one month from now :) Should be interesting. Time is just flying by!

Sicky Poo

Morning sickness? How about all the time sickness. I'm getting tired of gagging at the most absurd things. The other morning I saw a dead fruit fly in my sink and for some reason I started gagging over this. This is my worst complaint about pregnancy. Although I'm only 21 weeks and still have a ways to go.

On the brighter side I'm starting to feel the baby move. It almost feels like tiny bubbles in my tummy. The other day I felt a strong kick for the first time when I was bending over the desk to get some papers. I love feeling the baby and knowing he's there. I get kinda worried when I haven't felt any movement for a long time.

I've also heard that the baby can hear me and things around me already. Sometimes in the evening I'll play a CD of soft music and place the ghetto blaster right by my tummy. I'd sing more for my baby too, but most of the time I'm at school or work and that just feels strange and awkward.

Tuesday is ultrasound number two :) Hopefully this time he won't be so shy about showing his heart.

Rats!! A Home Invasion!

Part 1:

It all started when Mark mentioned that he had heard noises in the attic. I thought nothing of this, because we had been in this place for awhile and I had never heard a thing. Anyway, to be safe we called a pest control company and had someone set some traps in our attic. The pest control gentlemen said there were old rat turds up in the attic, but that he thought nothing was presently living there at the moment. He said if we had not heard anything in a week to phone him and he'd come pick up the traps.

Part 2:

Life gets busy and then busier, and somehow in that time I never got around to phoning back the pest control guy. Oops. So yesterday, after an entire month, we finally arranged for him to pick up his four traps. So what does he find when he retrives his traps? Four traps, four dead rats!! These are rats people!! These aren't tiny cute little mice (that would have been more comforting). No, these are big, fat, ugly rats! In my attic, right above my head!!

Part 3:

That completly grossed me out! And to think Mark and I always sleep with the window open!! Last night I shut the window, I couldn't handle the thought of a rat getting into my bedroom. Mark told me that rats are afraid of humans. Did he ever see "Lady and the Tramp"?!?! That rabid rat went straight for the baby. Yuck!
Part 4:
More traps were set. To be continued...

IT'S A BOY!

So I had my first ultrasound experience on Friday, which was really quite amazing! We soon discovered that we were in fact expecting a little boy! I saw the heart, the blood flowing to his little kidneys, his face, legs, arms, and feet. Mark and I of course had to purchase the pictures. It was just mind boggling to see! It's truly miraclous how everything comes to together to make a fully functioning little baby. I hope to get the pictures scanned sometime soon so everyone can see the little guy :)I have to go back for another ultrasound in a couple of weeks. Turns out that we have a stubborn little baby. The technician was trying to get a picture of the heart at a different angles, but our baby refused to move out of his comfy position. The technician had me lean over the bed with my elbows on the matress (different elevaton I guess), cough loudly a few times, lay on my side, and suck in and out my tummy. After all these attempts the baby had not moved from his position. So alas we will have to try again in a couple of weeks, not that I mind I get to see my baby again ;)
